The Kerzhensky State Natural Biosphere Reserve welcomes requests for educational events and guided tours. Tours to nature are held all year round at air temperatures from -15 to +30 degrees Celsius. In case of deterioration in weather conditions guided tours are postponed to another suitable time for you which is available in the schedule of tours.
Routes of all tours in the nature are circular.
In winter the tour is carried out on skis (if there is sufficient snow cover height and negative air temperature values).
The hiking trails can be visited on your own, with no tour service. To do this, you need to apply to the Environmental Centre at 17, Oktyabrskaya St., Rustai, to be instructed, to get a guidebook, and to pay the cost of visiting for the purpose of educational tourism in the amount of 50 rubles for adults, 25 rubles for children aged 12-18 years and retirees, children under 12 years for free.
The fee for visiting the territory is NOT included in the cost of tours to nature and is paid additionally. The amount of payment for visiting the territory is 50 rubles (unless you have a preferential right).

The training includes the use of the tea room in the Environmental Centre, slide lectures, a quiz about forest fires, a transfer from the Environmental Centre to the fire-chemical station and back on a snow and swamp-going vehicle, a tour of the reserve's fire-chemical station with a demonstration of how fire-fighting equipment works (with a guide's presentation), and a practical training session with the use of a forest knapsack tank. The training sessions at the fire-chemical station are conducted by state inspectors for environmental protection who have received special training in the field of Forest Fire Fighting.

You will also learn interesting facts about the inhabitants of the Kerzhenets River and floodplain lakes and about the role of the reserve in their preservation and recreation.

The trail is marked with yellow stripes on the trees. There is an entrance group at the start of the trail with a route plan and visiting rules. The tour introduces the different types of forests in the reserve, the Kerzhenets River, its tributary, which is the Vishnya River, and the floodplain saucer lakes. The trail features such interesting natural objects as “witch broom”, 200-year-old pine tree, old oak in three girths, and a giant growth on the birch.
THE HIKING TRAIL IS 1 KM AWAY FROM THE ENVIRONMENTAL CENTRE. YOU CAN GET CLOSER BY USING THE DIRT ROAD AND WALK TO THE START OF THE TRAIL LESS THAN 0.3 KM.

THE HIKING TRAIL IS 2 KM AWAY FROM THE ENVIRONMENTAL CENTRE, I.E. THE ROUTE TO THE TRAIL AND BACK IS 5.5 KM LONG. BUT IF YOUR BUS IS HIGH AND YOUR DRIVER IS EXPERIENCED, YOU CAN GET CLOSER AND WALK LESS THAN 0.5 KM TO THE TRAIL BY AGREEMENT WITH THE BUS DRIVER.

TO THE START OF THE ROUTE FROM THE ENVIRONMENTAL CENTRE AND THEN BACK, YOU CAN DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE ON AN ASPHALT ROAD.
- Rental of forest (wide) skis costs 100 rubles per person.
- Use of a summerhouse with a barbecue (up to 8 people) costs 500 rubles for the first 2 hours and 150 rubles per hour for the subsequent ones. The cost of renting a summerhouse does not include coal for barbecue (you should bring your own coal).
- Accommodation in the guest house costs 1500 rubles daily per person.
- Use of a sauna (up to 8 people) costs 2000 rubles for the first 2 hours and 200 rubles per hour for the subsequent ones.

The application must be confirmed by phone within 1-2 days prior to arrival. In case of making changes to the application (date of arrival, number of people, etc.), please inform the Environmental Education Department immediately.

You can bring your skis with you or you can use the forest (wide) skis of the reserve in the town of Rustai.
