World Crane Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of September (In 2019 it is celebrated on September 8).
In the Kerzhensky Reserve, a grey crane, which is listed in the Red Book of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, lives in bogs. It is difficult to notice these birds among bog trees and shrubs, but the trumpet cries of cranes can be heard within 1.5 - 2 kilometers.
The number of forest reindeer, that are being restored in the Kerzhensky Reserve, has increased again. In May, the female Lyusya gave birth to a baby deer Elisey. His arrival was awaited.
On July 19, three brown bear cubs were released in the Kerzhensky Reserve, which were born in winter in Nizhny Novgorod's Prioksky Park (former Switzerland Park).
